At one time or another we all wanted to know what it felt like to fly a plane or a jet. As we get older the feeling doesn’t go away. I will never be able to fly a real plane because I am scared of heights. Luckily there are different ways to fly a plane or a jet.
RC jets are a great way to get the flying experience. You have total control of the jet. You can maneuver it anyway that you want. It gives the feeling of being a pilot.
There are many types of radio-controlled aircrafts. It really depends on what type of experience you have as well as what you want to do. Some are more complicated then others. You just need to know your skill level.
Some different types of rc planes are jets. Jets tend to be very expensive and commonly use a micro turbine or ducted fan. There are gliders as well. Glider planes do not typically have any type of propulsion, as a general rule. Another is called a pylon racer. These types are smaller and propeller driven. The kits are fairly inexpensive. Those are just a few to choose from.

9 Eagles Sky Eagle EP Park Flyer RTF 2.4Ghz
The Sky Eagle Park Flyer is an excellent beginner electric-powered plane from Nine Eagles. The fuselage is made from light but durable EPP foam, while the patented propeller protective device helps to minimize damage to the propeller and motor by allowing the propeller to fall off if you crash nose-first. The included transmitter is a 2.4GHz mode 1/mode 2 controller. Switching between the modes is simple and takes minutes. Combine this with a wind resistant and stable design and you get a great Electric RC Airplane for beginners.
- The patented propeller protective device can avoid damage to the propeller and plane upon impact.
- The total airplane body is made of durable anti-crash EPP foam.
- Stable flight, excellent controllability, strong wind resistant.
- A great choice for beginners flying a fixed wing aircraft.

You have to learn to walk before you can run. The same concept applies to electric RC airplanes. Before you can learn how to do fancy tricks, you need to learn the basics. Making smooth turns is an important skill to master.
The first turn you make with one of your electric RC airplanes must come after the vehicle has climbed to a workable altitude. You need to reach at least tree-top height and then level out. Next, use your controllers to move the rudder. Remember to ease the plane around curves; don’t force the move. Once you’ve gotten comfortable with basic turns try taking your RC airplane out on a breezy day and learn to turn into and out of the airflow.
Travis, my younger brother, got into flying and building RC airplanes his freshman year of high school. Since most of his money comes from mowing lawns and raking leaves, he has to carefully save to afford his hobby. For his 18th birthday I decided to buy him a top of the line model. After all, you only become legal once!
I consulted with some of his buddies who he builds and races with to see what sort of RC airplanes to look into. After much research, I settled on a Redcat P-51D Mustang. It has a wingspan of 37.8 inches, a flying weight of 22.9 ounces, and an 850kv out runner brushless motor. The package came with the RC airplane mostly assembled, a four channel 2.4GHz transmitter, a wall battery balance charger, a rechargeable battery, and a user’s manual. It cost me a pretty penny, but 18 is a special birthday, and my brother absolutely loved his present.
Commissioned in 1958 as America’s main strike fighter, the F4 PHANTOM is still in active service in many airforce’s around the world today although it has now been officially retired from the American military.
With a impressive history established over more than half a century, the more than 5,000 supersonic jets produced for the West is a record that still stands.
- 5-blade fan unit represents Kyosho’s unique ducted fan design skills. High-performance brushless motor generates stable and powerful thrust.
- PIP specifications include 2-micro servos for elevon control, brushless motor and a motor control amp for a user-friendly yet challenging flying experience.
- Features the distinctive “dogtooth” and outer dihedral main wings of the original that minimize stall and deliver lateral stability. Provides stable control in the hands of intermediate fliers.
- Anhedral of the original PHANTOM produces stability around the pitch axis and effective input from the control surfaces, even at large angles of attack. Promises sure control characteristics under varying flying postures.
